Malcolm von Molpe is a beautiful 2 year old Shepherd mix. Malcolm has the most kissable face in town but he often looks worried and needs time to get used to being in a new environment. This low-to-mid energy hunkie-doodle walks wonderfully on leash. He can be a little aloof in the beginning but, after a couple of head scratches, he really warms up! Malcolm’s serious face completely changes when his handler pets him and gently speaks to him; he almost purrs like a cat as he gets comfortable -- and he does like a full-body scratch! Malcolm is somewhat stiff when encountering a new dog but relaxes with dogs who are not pushy with him. In playgroups he enters shyly and has some nervous energy -- he met submissive females but had his guard up the entire time. Eventually he retreated to the sidelines to cuddle with the human. Malcolm did wonderfully on a hike at Griffith park; this usually calm and serious cutie seemed almost joyful and was prancing around happily with the other dogs. He seemed more interested in meeting other females than the large males, but his tail never stopped wagging. Malcolm is the kind of guy who can keep up on hikes yet be mellow enough to sit by you quietly as you work – if that sounds perfect for you, come down and meet him soon.
